After having a general officers’ training and degree practice the week prior, the members of Kenton Lodge no. 145 proceeded to confer the Fellowcraft Degree on Brother Kaid Collins last Thursday, January 24th.
While the officer corps consisted of ritual veterans such as WB Joseph Piazza, honored Brothers Ian Cawley and Ryan Whittenburg as well as past masters, the degree’s cast also saw the inaugural performance of newly appointed officers performing in their respective official capacity. Honored Brother Justin Brandt performed admirably as Senior Steward for the degree while his junior counterpart honored Brother Valan Primus prepared the meal for the evening. In what can be described as a very rare occurrence, WB Dale Palileo vacated his post from the secretary’s desk to serve in Brother Primus’ stead during the degree.
Brother Manase Salema, who was recruited and trained at the last minute due to a few minor cast changes, also performed admirably as Junior Deacon.
Worshipful Brother John Kent, current Worshipful Master of Enlightenment no. 228 as well as Brother Zain Al Jammali of Beaverton no. 100 and WB Robert Hopkins of Friendship no. 160 were in attendance.
After the degree, over 30 brothers and guests were present to celebrate this auspicious occasion. A hearty and delicious meal consisting of pork curry, rice and green beans was enjoyed by all courtesy of honored Brother Valan Primus’ efforts.
Next week, the lodge will be conferring the Fellowcraft Degree on Brother Nedu Nweze and also host the official visitation of brothers from Landmark Lodge no. 103, from the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of Iowa.
