Autumn Equinox Sees Raising of New Kenton Master Mason

Posted on September 23, 2022

As the autumn equinox signals the changing of the season from summer to fall, the brethren of Kenton Lodge marked this auspicious occasion by raising Brother Derek Shaw to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason.

His degree was nearly a carbon-copy of last week’s degree for Brother Doug Kirkbride with a few minor exceptions, chief among them was the return of the Kenton tradition of having all roles assumed by members of the lodge.

The degree was also witnessed by visiting brothers, namely:

  • Brother Karak Arnett, Junior Warden of John B. Garret Lodge no. 711 in Nashville, TN
  • Brother Levi Campbell of Beaverton Lodge no. 100

Afterwards, the brothers celebrated the evening with a light meal prepared by honored Brother Michael Milford.

Brother Shaw’s raising is the second in a series of planned Master Mason degrees planned for the month of September. Next week, the lodge will perform the final Master Mason degree of the month–and possibly of the year–when it raises Brother Alex Hanna.
