Kenton Hosts District Deputy & Eugene 11 During its May Stated Meeting

Posted on May 16, 2022

Kenton’s May stated meeting proved to be another busy one for the books as it hosted not only RWB Adam Bayer, District Deputy for District no. 3, but also a contingent of brothers from Eugene Lodge no. 11.

The brethren in attendance were treated to a sumptuous meal catered from Casa Maya, a neighborhood restaurant specializing in Mexican cuisine.

The brethren then proceeded with the evening’s agenda, starting with the official reception of RWB Adam Bayer, followed by introduction of visitors. Aside from the brothers of Eugene Lodge no. 11, WB John Fitzgerald of North Bank Lodge no. 182 F. & A. M. of Washington was also introduced.

WB Shawn Holt was also warmly welcomed back to the lodge. His attendance marked his return to Oregon after living in Ohio and North Carolina for several years.

Worshipful Brothers Joseph Piazza and Andrew Gross were also in attendance and assisted during the meeting as Junior Deacon and Senior Deacon, respectively.

Other highlights of the evening:

  • Mr. Matthew Humkey was invited to the lodge’s investigation forum and was subsequently given a petition in true Kenton fashion.
  • WB James “Ironblood” Elam presented honored Brother Zack Andrew with a bottle of whiskey courtesy of Brother Justin Brandt to mark his birthday, which happened to be on the same day as the lodge’s stated meeting.

Afterwards, the brothers retired in the dining room for honored Brother Zack Andrew’s Masonic education piece on Brother Walter H. Pierce, the 17th governor of Oregon while the Past Masters met for the lodge’s usual Past Masters Council Meeting.

To cap the activities of the evening, Brother Fellowcraft Derek Shaw also held a tea tasting session for the brethren in attendance that featured teas from various parts of the world.
