Kenton Performs Courtesy Master Mason Degree for Newport Lodge no. 85
Posted on September 21, 2019
It is a rare privilege and honor for a lodge to perform a courtesy degree for another lodge; rarer still when one lodge travels for hours just to have a degree conferred by a different lodge on one of their own. There’s a high degree of trust that everything will go smoothly as planned, especially in a Master Mason degree ceremony and all its numerous parts.
That was what happened last night at Kenton when it conferred the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on Brother Don Morrison of Newport Lodge no. 85 in a ceremony that marked Kenton’s homecoming degree conferral after being dark during the summer months.
Brother Morrison, who was waiting in the wings to receive his Master Mason degree since summer, was accompanied by WB Mark Phillips and WB Dean Young, current Worshipful Master and Secretary of Newport Lodge, respectively.
True to Kenton form, the entire degree was composed of Kenton members with WB Joseph Piazza assuming conferral duties from the Oriental Chair. WB Dale Palileo led the second section and the lecture culminating in honored Brother Ian Cawley giving the charge. WB Phillips gave the Grand Lodge charges. As an additional rare treat, WB Jim Emery gave the traveling charge after the degree ceremonies.
