Last night, Kenton held its first stated meeting of the year under the leadership of WB Valan Primus.

The evening started off with a delicious dinner consisting of Haitian cuisine that was brought in from one of the only Haitian cuisine outfits in the city, courtesy of our newly installed Junior Warden, WB Zack Keirsey.

As it is with any lodge’s first stated meeting of the year, the agenda was packed with business items ranging from the approval of this year’s budget to the appointment of committees and various other particulars. WB Primus navigated through these action items with ease and with full command of his agenda.

The evening also saw the attendance of various brothers from around the jurisdiction, with lodge representatives hailing from as far east as Hood River and as far south as Corvallis making their trek to North Portland. Three sitting Worshipful Masters, namely Masters of Fairview no. 92, Hood River no. 105 and Corvallis no. 14 were part of the brothers visiting, along with other brothers from their respective lodges. WB Jimmie Jaimes of Friendship Masonic Lodge no. 160 was also in attendance.

Immediately after the stated meeting, the lodge’s Past Masters’ Council held their meeting with visiting past masters sitting in to witness their deliberations while the rest of the brethren retired to the dining hall for the usual celebrations and libations.

The lodge now plans on holding its traditional officers training next week, followed by the long-awaited Master Mason Degree for Brother Luis Gutierrez the week after.
