Making Good Men Better

Welcome to Freemasonry

Freemasonry is a system of morality, veiled in allegory, illustrated by symbols. Not a religion, but religious in character, it is a philosophy of ethical conduct which imparts moral and social virtues, and fosters brotherly love.

The Quest for Light

For centuries, men of every race, creed and color throughout the world have found in the Symbolic Lodges of Freemasonry the light to guide their search for the answers to one of man’s eternal questions:

What is the meaning of life; the nature of God and man?

Welcome to Freemasonry

At its core, Freemasonry is an initiatic school of philosophy—an ancient tradition that uses symbols and allegorical teachings to cultivate personal growth, strength of character, and a deeper understanding of life. Its lessons, passed from generation to generation, offer a framework for men seeking to build something greater within themselves and in the world around them.

Freemasonry is the oldest fraternity in the world and one of history’s longest-standing organizations. We trace our origins to the operative stonemason guilds of the 14th century, but our purpose has evolved far beyond stone and mortar. Today, we shape men of action, integrity, and purpose—builders of themselves, their communities, and their legacies.

The Kenton Journey

The Masonic journey at Kenton Lodge is a quest for nobler deeds, higher thoughts, and purer actions. It’s not something you can fully grasp through books or websites—it’s an experience lived through ancient rituals and unwritten traditions. This journey challenges your beliefs, broadens your perspective through civil discourse, and imparts life-changing lessons through symbolic ceremonies. It’s about introspection, growth, and unlocking your potential to make a meaningful impact on the world around you. Most of all, it’s about improving yourself and joining a brotherhood of men committed to personal excellence and the betterment of their communities. If you’re ready for the challenge, we welcome you to take the first step.

Leadership

WB Valan Primus

The Pillar of Wisdom: The Guiding Light of the Lodge

WB Valan Primus is this year’s Worshipful Master, and in the lodge, he represents the Pillar of Wisdom, the source from which light emanates. Seated in the East, where the sun rises and the day begins, his station symbolizes the dawn of knowledge, the illumination of truth, and the birth of new understanding.

From the Oriental Chair, ideas are conceived, lessons are imparted, and the work of the lodge takes shape. It is from this place that wisdom is not only dispensed but also nurtured, ensuring that the brethren receive the guidance they need to progress in their Masonic journey. Just as the sun’s first light dispels darkness, the Worshipful Master’s role is to shine forth clarity, inspiration, and the steady hand of leadership.

Yet, wisdom is more than mere knowledge—it is the ability to apply understanding with discernment, to lead with both intellect and compassion. The Pillar of Wisdom reminds us that Masonry is a lifelong pursuit, where learning and enlightenment are not destinations but a continuous path we walk together. As we labor in the quarry of self-improvement, it is wisdom that ensures our efforts are not in vain but are directed toward the highest ideals of our craft.

The Pillar of Strength: The Steadfast Guardian of the Lodge

Brother Michael Milford stands in the West as the Pillar of Strength, a role that embodies stability, perseverance, and resolve. From his station, he ensures the work of the lodge progresses with order and discipline, bridging the wisdom of the East with the labor of the South. His duty is to uphold the integrity of the lodge, reinforcing the foundation upon which our Masonic journey is built.

As the sun descends in the West, signaling the close of day, so too does the Senior Warden oversee the completion of our labors, ensuring that every Brother departs enriched by the light received. His station reminds us that strength is not merely physical but a steadfast commitment to the principles of our craft—endurance, fortitude, and the unwavering support of our brethren.

The Pillar of Beauty: The Light of Harmony in the Lodge

WB Zack Andrew stands in the South as the Pillar of Beauty, a symbol of balance, refinement, and the joy found in labor well done. His station is where the sun reaches its zenith, illuminating the lodge with the warmth of midday, a time of rest and reflection.

From this place, he ensures that the brethren are nourished—not only in body but in spirit, reminding us that the craft is not only about toil and discipline but also about the beauty found in unity, brotherhood, and the pursuit of virtue. Just as beauty brings harmony to the world, the Junior Warden ensures that light and wisdom find their rightful place alongside strength, creating a lodge that flourishes in all aspects.

His station is a reminder that Masonry is not merely about the work we do, but also about the elegance, order, and joy that arise when wisdom and strength are tempered with grace and purpose.

The Pillars United: Wisdom, Strength, and Beauty in Harmony

In the lodge, the Pillars of Wisdom, Strength, and Beauty stand not as separate virtues, but as three forces intertwined, each incomplete without the others. Wisdom conceives the path, but without Strength, it falters under the weight of inaction. Strength holds firm, but without Beauty, it risks becoming rigid and unyielding. Beauty refines and elevates, yet without Wisdom, it lacks direction, and without Strength, it remains fragile. It is in their perfect balance that a Mason finds his way.

The brothers who bear these Pillars do so not by mere appointment, but by the Kenton tradition of merit—through trials endured, lessons learned, and struggles overcome. In Kenton Lodge, adversity is not a burden but a proving ground, where hardship is welcomed, for it is only through challenge that men are forged into something greater. Together, these Pillars form the foundation of the Craft, guiding us to build not just a lodge, but a life of purpose, virtue, and unwavering brotherhood.
