March Stated Meeting Highlights

On March 13th, the lodge held its monthly stated meeting, as it does every second Thursday, with the signature camaraderie and tradition that make it a cherished occasion. This meeting was made even more important given that the lodge did not hold a stated meeting on February due to inclement weather. As such, there were far more items in the Worshipful Master’s agenda and even more so on the Secretary’s table.

The lodge and visiting brethren from Eastgate Lodge no. 155, Washington Lodge no. 46 and Mount Hood Lodge no. 32 under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Washington were treated to a sumptuous feast provided by the lodge’s Junior Warden, WB Zack Andrew, prior to the meeting.

Afterwards, WB Valan Primus, along with the assistance of WB Dale Palileo, proceeded to install the following brothers:

  • WB Andrew Gross as Junior Deacon
  • Honored Brother Kaid Collins as Historian
  • Honored Brother Jason Stewart as Senior Steward

WB Primus invited the lodge’s potential petitioners to witness this auspicious occasion. For most, it was their first time experiencing a Kenton Masonic gathering—an opportunity not only to observe the fraternity in action but to sit among Masons in our sacred space. The experience left them in awe, offering a glimpse into the brotherhood and tradition that defines the Craft.

After the installation ceremonies, the lodge was then opened on the Entered Apprentice Degree for the actual stated meeting. Sitting Worshipful Masters, namely WB Mike Wall of Eastgate Lodge no. 155 and WB Alex Bautista of Mount Hood Lodge no. 32 were afforded the honors of the East, sitting alongside WB Primus for the duration of the evening.

Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of WB Primus’ Basic Proficiency Card and, as per lodge tradition, his accompanying bronze Kenton wings being pinned on him by the Grand Lecturer, WB Dale Palileo.

WB Primus led an engaging stated meeting, gliding through his agenda with ease and peppering select moments with insight and wisdom for the brethren in attendance. This made for a fast stated meeting that only took no more than 40 minutes despite all the action items that were not addressed for the past two months.

The lodge is now expected to perform a Fellowcraft proficiency examination on Brother Mike Doty next week. If Brother Doty passes his examination, the lodge will then confer the Master Mason Degree on him on the same night.
