After a flurry of inter-jurisdictional visits, lodge business and an official visit from the Grand Master, the lodge finally had the opportunity to confer the Master Mason Degree upon Mike Doty.
Last night, the brothers of Kenton raised Brother Doty to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in a ceremony that was special and a “first” for a few members of the lodge.
Honorable Brother Mike Milford, the lodge’s current Senior Warden conferred the degree for the first time. His performance in the Eastern Chair was exceptional but certainly left room for improvement.
With Brother Milford in the East, WB Dale Palileo—typically the go-to conferrer for the Master Mason Degree—found himself on the sidelines, simply taking in the experience. A rare and welcome change of pace for him, and certainly another first for the evening.
Another first for the evening was the presence of WB Jeremiah Pruitt, Worshipful Master of Vista Masonic Lodge no. 215 located in Salem. Brother Neilly Cooper was also in attendance, along with WB Don Moore, current Worshipful Master of Research Lodge of Oregon no. 198.
Prior to the evening’s main event, Brother Doty gave his proficiency in the lecture of the Fellowcraft Degree in the same fashion and quality that the lodge has come to expect from him.
The lodge now looks ahead to the month of May, anticipating the reading of three petitions at its stated meeting, along with an Entered Apprentice Degree that promises to be an exceptional rendition—once again drawing brothers from across the jurisdiction.
