Kenton comes to AnCom: Brotherhood, Leadership, and Cigar Smoke by the Sea

Kenton At AnCom 2025

Last week, a contingent of Kenton brothers made the trek to Lincoln City to represent our lodge at the 2025 Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Oregon. While the official proceedings were held at Chinook Winds Casino Resort, Kenton opted for a more familiar route: renting a house nearby. As luck would have it, our house ended up right next to the Grand Lodge Hospitality House, turning our quiet corner of the coast into the unofficial epicenter of fellowship and late-night conversations.

Throughout the weekend, Kenton’s doors stayed open. Brothers from across the state and visiting dignitaries from around the country stopped by to enjoy our signature mix of cigars, choice libations, and that particular brand of Kenton hospitality that’s hard to describe but unmistakable when experienced. Our decision to include Entered Apprentices and petitioners in the weekend festivities was also well received, reaffirming Kenton’s reputation as one of Oregon’s most forward-thinking and engaged lodges.

As with every Annual Communication, the weekend included voting on legislation and resolutions that shape the future of Masonry in Oregon. We’ll discuss the outcomes of those votes at our upcoming stated meeting on Wednesday, June 12th.

This year’s session also saw the installation of the 2025–2026 Grand Lodge Officers and District Deputies. Kenton was well represented, with several of our own brothers continuing or stepping into new roles:

  • WB Dale Palileo, continuing as Grand Lecturer
  • WB Ian Cawley, continuing as Grand Musician
  • RWB Zack Andrew, now serving as District Deputy for District No. 3
  • RWB Blake Presswood, continuing as District Deputy, now for the newly redrawn District No. 5

As part of MWB Tim Best’s redistricting efforts, RWB Presswood now oversees all lodges meeting at Kenton Temple (Friendship 160, Enlightenment 228, and Kenton 145) succeeding RWB Adam Bayer in that capacity. We thank RWB Bayer for his years of dedicated service and look forward to RWB Presswood’s continued leadership.

Looking ahead, we invite everyone to our June 12th stated meeting, which will feature a special presentation by WB Johnny Edwards, Grand Historian of the Grand Lodge of Oregon.

We’ll see you at lodge.
