Brother MJ Gold joins the Craft in a powerful ceremony that blends tradition with innovation

The Initiation of MJ Gold

Last night, the brethren of Kenton conferred the Entered Apprentice Degree on now-Brother Matthew James “MJ” Gold in true Kenton fashion with soaring musical backdrops, excellent ritual, and the kind of camaraderie that defines our lodge.

This degree also marked the beginning of something new: the integration of music and sound effects to deepen and enrich the ritual experience. What began as an experiment is quickly becoming a hallmark of Kenton’s conferrals, raising the emotional stakes and enhancing the already high standard our officers bring to the work. The result? A more immersive, more moving experience for both candidate and sideliners alike.

As for the degree team, all installed officers sat in their usual stations, with one exception: RWB Blake Presswood stepped in as Senior Steward, joined by Brother Jason Steward in the Junior Steward’s role. Both delivered solid performances that supported the overall flow and tone of the evening.

Brother Cedric Sloan, sitting Senior Warden of Enterprise Lodge no. 1 of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Oregon, Idaho and Montana F. & A. M. was in attendance, as well as WB Aaron Enriquez, sitting Worshipful Master of Washington Lodge no. 46 A. F. & A. M.

Next week, the lodge returns to labor to welcome Mr. Raul Ramirez into the Craft. If last night was any indication, the bar has been set—and we’re just getting started.
