When it comes to candidates for membership, Kenton is known in certain circles for being thorough and selective in its membership selection process. To be considered, the lodge requires a showing of commitment, intellectual aptitude and social skills. These are lodge-specific requirements in addition to the membership requirements outlined by the Grand lodge of Oregon.
It also has its own way of finally deciding on whether someone is worthy of a lodge petition: The Investigation Forum.
Indeed, guarding the proverbial West Gate is something that the lodge takes very seriously.
It stands to reason that, because of these lodge-specific requirements, Kenton makes its petition presentation into an experience all unto its own.
Such was the case last night when the lodge held its last Investigation Forum last night for Mr. James Montgomery and Mr. Scott Frank. The forum lasted for nearly two-and-a-half-hours and resulted in the Kenton Brothers presenting petitions for both potential candidates. The evening was then capped by celebrations in the dining hall that lasted past midnight.
Mr. Montgomery’s and Mr. Frank’s petitions are the final petitions that will be given out this year and ends WB Valan Primus’ remaining months as Worshipful Master on a high note.
