Kenton Starts Off 2026 with a Strong Stated Meeting

Last January 8th, Kenton Lodge no. 145 started off its most ambitious year yet with the first stated meeting of the year.

While many knew that WB Mike Milford was still recuperating from leukemia, his presence–and subsequent attendance in the Oriental Chair during the meeting–was warmly welcomed by all in attendance.

The evening started with a delicious feast consisting of black-eyed peas, collared greens, mac & cheese and cornbread prepared by WB Andrew Gross and his stewards.

The meeting necessitated the use of a microphone for WB Milford due to his inability to project his voice in his usual manner–an effort that was welcomed by the brethren at large.

Many items on the agenda were discussed and decided, chief among was the approval of the year’s budget and the appointment of committees. Along with this, the petitions of Mr. James Montgomery and Mr. Scott Frank to receive the degrees of Freemasonry at Kenton Lodge was also balloted upon to expected success.

Not everything about the meeting was about business, however. WB Manase Salema, Past Master of the lodge for 2024, was given his past master’s portrait–a tradition that has recently returned to Kenton. The coveted Hiram Award for 2025 was also presented to WB Valan Primus for exemplary service to the lodge during his year as Worshipful Master.

The lodge now looks forward to a busy January starting with its traditional Officers Training Night on the 15th, followed by consecutive Entered Apprentice Degrees for the remaining Thursdays thereafter.
