Hot off the heels of last week’s first Tribe Night for the year, the Kenton Horde was summoned by WB Mike Milford to make a visit to Friendship Masonic Lodge no. 160 during the lodge’s March Stated Meeting.
The evening was a great example of friendship and brotherly love enjoyed by both lodges who, along with Enlightenment Lodge no. 228, are in the same Masonic district and call Kenton Temple their home.
A delicious spread of barbecue ribs, tips, coleslaw, cheesy macaroni salad and collard greens was served during dinner, followed by the usual monthly stated meeting that was marked with a jovial and lighthearted atmosphere.
Due to the unfortunate absence of the lodge’s current Worshipful Master WB Hunter Bronson, the stated meeting was led by Brother SW Kyle Diesner who showed excellent command not only of the meeting but also of the ritualistic components of the Oriental Chair.
A total of nine Kenton brothers joined the Horde for this visit. They were:
- WB Mike Milford, Worshipful Master
- WB Valan Primus, Immediate Past Master
- WB Manase Salema, PM
- WB Jim Emery, PM
- WB Dale Palileo, Secretary
- RWB Blake Presswood, District Deputy for District no. 5
- Honored Brother Kevin Johnson, Senior Steward
- Honored Brother MJ Gold, Junior Steward
- Brother Entered Apprentice James Montgomery
Holding to tradition, WB Milford requested and received the lodge’s traveling gavel after being presented with the lodge’s pin and coin by Brother Diesner.
To round out the evening, the brethren present enjoyed a Masonic education paper by one of the lodge’s Entered Apprentices.
The short trek to Friendship 160 marks the second lodge visit made by the Horde this year and adds to Kenton’s ever-growing collection of traveling gavels. Kenton now looks forward to its usual officers, trustees and past masters council meetingsĀ on Thursday in preparation for their stated meeting next week.
